We’ll be hosting a “SEED SWAP.” Do you have extra seed you’ve saved from last year’s garden? Or maybe you have left-over seed packets. Bring them for our gardeners’ seed swap. (Make sure the seeds you bring are labeled.) Paula Winslow, Polk County Master Gardener and founder of the Enabling Garden in Altoona, will demonstrate how to determine if seeds will grow and how to prepare them for planting. She’ll share some great ideas on how to read a seed packet and make your own seed tapes for easier planting. Paula will also discuss how to harvest and store wild flower seeds in the fall. Mary Ann deVries, retired ISU horticulturist, will be on hand to answer your garden questions. She’ll also share ideas on natural weed control in the garden and great garden resources available to Iowa gardeners.
