Civilian Conservation Corps

June 7, 2018 @ 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

The Civilian Conservation Corps was a federal program to assist young men in supporting their families. It worked primarily on renewing natural resources. Most people know about the state park work, but in Iowa, over 75% of the work projects dealt with soil erosion, drought and flood prevention and planting trees. There was soil erosion work done in the Polk City area. Linda McCann has spoke with 19 men who worked in the CCC and shares their memories. She continues to research the CCC and would love to hear from men, or families who had men, in the CCC.
